This lovely pond and building sits behind the throne room and main living quarters. We saw fish leaping out of the water. Seemed like a very quiet and peaceful spot until we learned that the Empress was assassinated by the occupying Japanese here in 1895 and unceremoniously dumped in. We were told at least 5 times that the Japanese destroyed much of the palace during the occupation. Still not quite over it.ne of the many parks in Savannah. About every 3 or 4 blocks it seems there is square or park with a statue or fountain in it, some beautiful old oak trees and flowers and other plantings. It makes walking through town very pleasant and relaxing.
